We have so many things to juggle everyday, that we don’t usually get a chance to slow down, stop, think and reflect on our lives. Eventually, things keep piling up, and when we’re unable to handle them, it frustrates us. And we wonder about how to let go of anger and negativity!

Ever happened, that you have a bad day at work, reach home, everyone’s in a happy mood waiting for you at the dinner table, and you just blare at your kid about something petty? You do feel guilty later, but the ship has already sailed.

Here’s what we can learn from the Buddha about how to let go of anger and negativity:

Once when Buddha was walking towards a town with a few of his followers, he felt thirsty. So, he asked one of his followers to fetch some water for him from a nearby lake. Upon reaching the lake, he saw that the village women were washing their clothes in the water, and right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. Due to this, the water turned very muddy and turbid, making it unfit for Buddha to drink. So, he came back empty handed and told Buddha what happened.

After about half an hour, Buddha asked the same follower to go back to the lake for some water. Obediently, he did as asked; but this time when he reached the lake, the water was clear as glass. The mud had settled, and the water looked fit for drinking, so, he took some water for him in a pot.

Buddha took a sip, looked at the disciple and said, “See what you did to make the water clean? You let it be…and the mud settled down on its own, and you got clear water. Your mind functions in the same way. When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time, it will settle down on its own.”

Peace of mind is not a strenuous job; it is an effortless process. Peace within is automatically reflected on the outside.

How Can You Be At Peace Though?

Tip 1 – Allow yourself some time to let go of the negative thought. If this is not done, you shall pass on that negativity to someone else, which is not healthy.

Tip 2 – Learn to take positive criticism. Accept the fact that you can be wrong sometimes. Learn the lesson and move on instead of mulling over the mistake.

Tip 3 – Meditate at least 5 minutes a day to adapt and reflect positivity.

Jarred are we, of this hustle and bustle filled life…

Is it okay to say, that only hate and stress has ran rife?
