Ever wondered how some people manage to look bright and breezy all day? What do you think is the secret to their zealous presence that cheers up everyone around? With slight tweaks to your daily routine, even you can feel full of life. So, here’s how to feel energetic and motivated throughout the day.

Exercise regularly:

Start your day with exercise. That will help pump up the blood in your body. Continue to exercise throughout the day. And it can be something as simple as taking a 5-minute walk after every 2 to 3 hours. You can also climb the stairs wherever possible. If your workplace provides you with an option, do take out some time to just do a few sets of jumping jacks.

Eat your breakfast:

Whether you are working or at home, don’t skip your breakfast. Eat something healthy in the morning to kick-start your metabolism. According to a research conducted at the University of Worcester, a low glycaemic and a high protein breakfast is best to keep your energy levels up. So, a bowl of porridge loaded with berries and nuts can be a great breakfast option.

Give a break to your eyes:

Here’s a simple and quick exercise to keep your eyes from getting heavy. Look up, down, left, and right. Then rotate your eyes clockwise and anti-clockwise. Shut them tightly and then open them as widely as possible. Apart from this, it’s important to follow the 20-20-20 rule that says you should look at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds after every 20 minutes. You can also keep splashing your face with water. These tips will help your eyes from getting tired.

Dump the junk food:

Your body needs to work harder to digest junk food and in the process, drains you. Avoid canned, processed, and packaged food, that’s filled with empty calories. Instead go for healthier snacks that include whole grains, fruits, and proteins. Whole grains are a source of steady energy as they are digested slowly, unlike the refined sugars. Even proteins offer a slow release of energy. Fruits, on the other hand, provide you with a quick burst of energy without increasing the glucose levels. A bowl of oats, fresh fruits platter, or sprouts could be perfect snacking options for your post-meal hunger pangs.

Ditch the 3 PM coffee:

Stop loading your body with doses of caffeine that cause more harm than help. Dehydration can be an important reason to feel fatigued. Keep your body well-hydrated by drinking ample water and fresh fruit juices. You could also have green tea, ginseng tea, or a shot of lemon-ginger water for that much-needed energy boost.

Expose yourself to sunlight:

Make sure that you step out in the light or allow enough sunlight to enter your room. The circadian rhythm of your body is based on the sunlight. So, that’s one of the ways to remind your body that it’s not yet sleeping time.

Practise deep breathing:

Anxiety and stress change the way you breathe and, how you digest your food. Anxiety or stress causes a build-up of acidity, leaving you sluggish. Practise deep breathing for an increase in oxygen level. That, in turn, will perk up your system, sending energy throughout our body. This kind of breathing relaxes your nervous system allowing your digestive system to reset.

With these useful and effective tips, you can keep your energy meter high throughout the day. So, just go for it and keep raising the joy quotient around you!
