Finding the right work-life balance is much easier said than done. Before we start working on setting boundaries and limitations, it’s worth noting that whether you’re working from home or going to office, some workdays will be longer than others. As long as that doesn’t become a habit, it’s completely fine. The most important thing is finding what works for you and your role and lifestyle. As you explore, along the way, you’ll find tips for a happy and productive life that you’ll carry with you forever. We’d like to add to it by sharing what we think can improve your life significantly.

We’re sharing ways to help make sure you’re sticking to standard office hours and separating work and “me” time as best as you can.

5 Positive Tips For A Happy And Productive Life

1. Avoid Looking At Emails Right When You Wake Up

As easy as it is to roll over and immediately start drafting out emails or responding to team text messages from the comfort of your bed, it’s a slippery slope and a terribly unhealthy habit. Attain work-life balance by trying your best to have some time to yourself in the morning, whether it’s a quick call to a family member, drinking your chai in peace or doing nothing at all. Make a healthy smoothie, whip up your favourite breakfast, enjoy a morning routine before you dive into work.

2. Change Out Of Your Work Clothes

Sounds like a no-brainer, but sometimes 9pm rolls around and you’re still in your work outfit. The simple act of getting into something comfortable, can help your mind switch off and stop ticking about what’s already on your list for the next day. Let your mind and body relax and enjoy your evening doing anything other than work.

3. Schedule Breaks For Yourself During The Day

Schedule in a 30–60-minute break no matter how busy you are, to do something for yourself. Whether it’s as simple as stepping outside, calling a friend or a family member, or doing a quick stretch at your desk, these little things are necessary to keep you sane.

4. Make A Daily To-do List And Stick To It

Indulge in the power of prioritizing your tasks. Create a new list each day and break it up into four categories, urgent and important, important but not urgent, urgent but not important and neither urgent nor important. At the same time, be extremely mindful of knowing your productivity peaks. Schedule the tasks that need the most concentration for those periods of the day, so you don’t have the added stress of completing pending, urgent work once you log off for the day.

5. Have Something To Look Forward To Each Night.

Workdays are all about the hustle and grind. Every single minute is allocated to some sort of task or responsibility. At night, take some time to yourself to unwind, whether it be with your family and friend, or just a quiet hour to yourself. Indulge in anything that helps you minimise your stress, clear your mind and lull you to sleep. It could be watching your favourite show, cook a delicious dinner or catch up with a friend over facetime. Be sure to close your laptop and be available for what makes you truly happy and fulfils you at the end of the day.

These powerful affirmations can help you attain work-life balance.
