It was almost a decade ago when India was introduced to this unique sound by the Mahindra Blues Festival and it is back with a stellar line up of artistes. Enjoy a weekend of this festival at the Mehboob Studio in Mumbai on 8th and 9th February 2020.

Stars of the 10th edition are Buddy Guy, Keb Mo, Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, Larkin Poe, along with the special Mahindra Blues Festival treat—The Homegrown Blues collective featuring India’s best. Music lovers will get to witness live blues magic, spread across two days, right here in the heart of Bandra, enjoying the best of the outdoors and indoor venues.

Buddy Guy is one of the most celebrated blues guitarist of his generation, possessing a sound and style that embodies the traditions of classic Chicago Blues while also embracing sounds of Rock ‘n’ Roll. With 8 Grammy Awards, a 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award, 37 Blues Music Awards (the most any artist has ever received), he has been ranked #23 on Rolling Stone Magazines ‘100 Greatest Guitarist of All Time’. This will be his 5th visit at the Mahindra Blues Festival, making him a clear favourite amongst blues lovers.

Twenty-five years into his career, Kevin Roosevelt Moore (Keb’ Mo’), combines his masterful anecdotal writing skills, distinctive guitar versatility and rich, resonant, blues soaked vocals into his signature live performances. This contemporary Blues and Americana artiste’s 2019 album ‘Oklahoma’ debuted at number two on the Billboard Blues Chart. This year also saw the release of his first holiday album ‘Moonlight, Mistletoe, and You’.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd has become synonymous with the phrase ‘young blues rock guitarist’ over time. For the last quarter-century, riding shotgun with him has been the greatest road-trip in rock ‘n’ roll.

Larkin Poe is an American Roots Rock band fronted by singer and songwriter, multi-instrumentalist sisters, Rebecca and Megan Lovell. Descendants of artiste and creative genius, Edgar Allan Poe, the sisters are poised to make a mark with the release of their fourth album Venom & Faith, out November 9, 2020. Their brand of Roots Rock ‘n’ Roll features strong, soulful and gritty southern harmonies, heavy electric guitar riffs, and slide guitar.

Speaking about the festival, Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group said, “The year 2020 is special for the Mahindra Blues Festival as it is the 10th year since its launch in 2011 at the Mehboob Studios. Since then, we have successfully woven the Mahindra Blues Festival into the cultural fabric of the city of Mumbai. Today it gives me immense satisfaction to know that as a diversified global business group, we have been able to speak to multi-cultural audiences across continents using the soulful power of the Blues. I have no doubt that the 10th edition will be a milestone that Blues fans will not want to miss. It is no longer just an event—it has become a movement.”

So, get set to soak in the soulful sounds of the Blues at this event.
