Every second person you see right now is either coughing, has a sore throat, or some or the other ailment. It is that time of the year where it is quite easy to be under the weather. And, if you too are suffering from a bout of flu or have some symptoms, here are five home remedies to cure it.
Keep Yourself Hydrated
Flu can easily make you dehydrated; more so if you are vomiting or have diarrhea. Make sure to have enough fluids—water, fruit juices or even electrolyte beverages work well. Make sure to take small sips, as gulps might just make you throw up. You can also have some home-made herbal tea. Avoid caffeine as much as you can.
Be A Couch Potato
Sometimes the best thing to do is to do nothing. Relax. Curl up and just unwind. Your body needs rest to fix itself. If you keep doing your daily chores, you are keeping your body from the rest it really needs. Don’t press on with household or office work in case of severe cold or flu symptoms.
Join The Steam Team
Nothing is worse than a clogged nose. And the best way to cure it is by inhaling steam. Bring some water to boil and then take it off the heat. Add a few drops of eucalyptus or peppermint oil for an extra phlegm-busting power. You can repeat this as often as necessary.
Try A Warm Towel Compress
You might need a more targeted remedy if the congestion is severe. Here, you can try the warm towel compress method. Simply place a warm cloth on the forehead or nose. This will relieve headache or sinus pain to a great extent.
Saline Water Gargles
They really help get rid of the thick mucus in the throat, as well as stuffy ears. Adding half a tablespoon of salt to lukewarm water should do wonders.
