If you’re an Indian you have to visit Goa once in your lifetime. Of course, even if you’re not an Indian you must visit the place. Goa has a lot of tourist influx every year and people tend to settle with the most visited or recognised hotels for their stay. We came across the following boutique hotels which are absolutely breathtaking and the perfect alternative to your 5 star stay.
Alila Diwa, Majorda
Located along the Gonsua beach the hotel offers amazing views of paddy fields in South Goa. Alila Diwa is a resort within a resort which allows guests the privilege of privacy and exclusivity. The resort is 20 minutes from Dabolim Airport and just 500 metres from the Gonsua beach, to which you can just walk to. It’s alright if you don’t want to go to the beach, you can chill in the infinity pool in the premises and have a nice session of sunbathing too.
The Postcard, Velha
Far away from the busy streets of Calangute and Candolim, in the secluded world of Old Goa. The property is a modest colonial hideout tucked away in the Champakali Estate, a perfect mix of luxury and simplicity. The hotel also has a spa and a restaurant that specialises in authentic Goan food and fish caught fresh from the Zuari river. They also offer local experiences wherein you can just cycle or walk around the old city or even get a few surfing lessons from the locals!
Casa Palacio Siolim House, Siolim
Siolim House is a 350-year-old palacio from the time Goa was a Portuguese territory. 27 kilometres from Dabolim airport, now the manor has been restored and houses 9 air-conditioned rooms. One of the best places to get away from the crowd to just sit back and unwind. Casa Palacio also has home-cooked Goan cuisines and is just 8 minutes away from Mandrem beach.
Elsewhere, Otter Creek, Arambol
A personal favourite and one on the bucket list as well. Seascape offers tucked away from civilisation, a place which feels like you’re not in India. Isn’t that the whole point of Goa? They offer both tents and beach houses which are absolutely breathtaking! The whole property is an accumulation of the private beach houses and tents. Elsewhere offers four simple but charming houses located on the beach namely, The Captains House, The Piggery, The Bakery and The Priests house.
And guess what? They’re all situated by the beach. Bang next to the beach. You know where to head next.
Yab Yum Resort, Mandrem
What may be marketed as an ayurvedic resort, has another side to it. This tropical-looking resort offers coconut looking thatched huts as one of their properties for stay. What more? You have regular yoga classes and a very loved masseuse on call. Mandrem beach is a 6-minute walk from the resort, whereas the Morjim beach is around 2.3 kilometres from the property.
Get booking! Booking in a year advance is still a vacation.
Pro-tip, always book from the website of the hotel. They are the cheapest!
