You’ll often find yourself questioning what you’re doing in life, where you are right now, what you are about to do next, and that happens to everyone in life. You will reach a point where you question certain decisions that you have made. Guess what? It’s completely fine. What makes the process easier is how you handle it. The least you can do is start with it.
Peace of mind is a life-long universal desire, and we look for it in a myriad of ways. What if peace of mind had little to do with material milestones, attaining personal or professional goals, or even circumstances and situations being favourable, and everything to do with the inner workings of our minds. At the same time, personal freedom calls on a person’s decision-making capacity and behavior actualization capacity. In other words, good mental health is characterized by having personal freedom. The day you can exercise your personal freedom you know you’re happy because you’re getting what you want to do.
This is where meditation can possibly make the biggest, the difference in our lives, giving us unshakeable peace of mind- come what may!
Here are some guidelines that you can follow to make your meditation experience better and make the most out of your lives in terms of personal freedom.
STEP 1: Find the right position
First thing would involve you to find the most comfortable position to meditate in; preferably sitting. Look for a spot that is quiet, peaceful and in a well-lit area.
STEP 2: Make sure your stomach is not full.
This will help prevent you from falling asleep.
STEP 3: Move before meditating.
Do any sort of light physical activity like going for a walk, or a quick run before you start meditation. It warms your body up and you’re more mindful of your muscles.
STEP 4: Take it easy
Make sure you meditate for 10-20 minutes. Do not be in a hurry to open your eyes. A few light stretches with eyes closed helps you gently ease back into activity.
If you make an inherent effort to consistently work on yourself, there’s no stopping you from achieving the peace of mind you deserve.
